Bathroom space is very tight in many Maryland communities, so I try to keep a few extra secrets in mind if I am doing a new build or addition to an existing home.
The first secret tip I give to my customers is to have a floor plan before starting any bathroom remodeling services. If you can create a floor plan before starting any job, it will make the project go more smoothly and be easier to complete. I always use a pencil and paper to do the initial plans. This allows me to make changes easier and without spending extra money on materials.
Another tip I give is to always have plenty of water. I have been told by many people that they have limited water knowledge, but I suggest that you have at least two liters of water per person per shower. This will ensure that your showers do not freeze during the winter. And finally, I recommend at least a six foot minimum height for walk-ins.
The next tip I give is for the person who has decided to do a total bathroom remodeling job themselves. If you decide to build your own walk-in tub, I recommend you take out all the old pipes, fixtures, and jets. I usually buy a good used two-gallon washing machine and a used three-gallon drum to fill the tub with water. If you are going to build the tub yourself, you should have someone do the flooring first, then take out all the old parts and put them in a bucket with warm water.
After this is done, you can start building the walk-in tub. Make sure to include the pipe work, and then you will need a hot-water heater, and a pressure tank. You can also purchase a shower head unit to transform your bathroom, and this is one of the most popular items people buy when remodeling their bathrooms. If you find the right unit, it can be one of the most expensive items you will ever buy for your home!
